Subject: U.S. Global Change Data and Information System (GCDIS) WWW Site

The U.S. Global Change Data and Information System (GCDIS) would like to
announce the availability of its newly-redesigned World Wide Web (WWW)
site. GCDIS is a collection of distributed information systems operated
by government agencies involved in global change research. GCDIS
provides global change data to scientists and researchers, policy
makers, educators, industry, and the public at large. GCDIS includes
multidisciplinary data from atmospheric science, ecology, oceanography,
as well as economics and sociology.

Please visit the new GCDIS World Wide Web (WWW) site at

http://www.gcdis.usgcrp.gov/

New features on the WWW site include:

* search pages for simple, distributed searching for data from the
Global Change Master Directory, the Global Change Assisted Search for
Knowledge, the National Geospatial Data Clearinghouse, and the National
Environmental Data Index;
* pointers to on-line documents, publications, policy statements, and
bibliographic databases;
* a calendar of global change-related scientific meetings and
conferences;
* pointers to agency requests for proposals and programmatic project
databases;
* pointers to educational information; and
* a new page called "Ask Dr. Global Change" which makes it easy for the
general public (including students and teachers) to ask questions
related to global change. Questions are answered by scientists,
researchers, and other experts in the field.

GCDIS is a cooperative activity of agencies participating in the U.S.
Global Change Research Program (USGCRP).
