Although this species is regarded as a synonym in the Fl. Cambodge, Laos, and Vietnam, one of us (Chen) prefers to treat it as a good species. This species is most plentiful in S and SE China. From Dalbergia assamica Bentham, it is clearly distinguished by its smaller, 10–15 cm leaves (vs. 25–30 cm); lanceolate stipules (vs. leaflike, ovate); smaller, 5–10 cm panicles (vs. 10–15 cm); larger flowers ca. 1 cm (vs. 6–8 mm); purely white corolla (vs. white with purple stripes inside); broader, 2–2.5 Χ as long as broad pods (vs. 4 Χ as long as broad).
