(8) Nanjing Botanical Garden for the Blind Opens

[CND, 05/15/98] The city of Nanjing opened a botanical garden created
for the blind, according to Xinhua and AFP. The 129,120 square foot
(12,000 square meter) garden is created so that blind people can
enjoy the smell and touch of exotic plants. The special garden is
within the boundaries of the existing Zhongshan Botanical Garden has
recorded audio information and signs in braille for its visitors who
can enjoy the smell and touch of exotic flora. A wide cobbled path
leads visitors to more than 150 species of plants. (Sue BRUELL, YIN
