Missouri Botanical Garden
Executive Director - Flora of North America

The Flora of North America program is an international, cooperative
project with headquarters at Missouri Botanical Garden. We seek an
Executive Director, Flora of North America to provide overall leadership
to the program and coordinate all aspects of the project with the advice
and consent of the project's Management and Editorial Committees. The FNA
operates as an activity within the Garden's Research Division, reporting
to the Director, Research Division, and engages in ongoing collaboration
with other Garden Divisions

The selected individual will plan, develop, and manage the overall business
plan for the FNA; develop and coordinate the annual FNA budget; administer
all contracts and grants on behalf of the project; coordinate FNA
activities with governmental agencies at the local, state, national, and
international levels and with private entities such as foundations and
conservation agencies; maintain significant involvement in fund raising for
the project in collaboration with Research Development staff; develop
proposals and contracts; participate in fund-raising activities; develop
and pursue new strategies for earned income and grants support from
foundations and individuals; serve as ex-officio member of the Management
and Editorial Committees of FNA; work with staff, editors, reviewers, and
authors to establish and maintain program priorities, strategies and
timetables; develop and execute short- and long-range strategic plans for
the project.

Qualifications include a Ph.D. in botany or related field; seven plus years
experience in botanical systematics, floristics, ecology, and conservation
related activities; record of published accomplishment in floristic and/or
monographic research; exceptional written and oral communication skills;
and demonstrated leadership and administrative ability.
