Hello ...

I posted a message on the subject 'Internet as a Research Tool?' on
19 Jan 98.

I have compiled a summary of the replies, but I think it is too long
(30+ Kb) to post to the mailing lists, so I have put it where you can
easily get at it if you want to:

http://dialspace.dial.pipex.com/diversity/misc/response.htm

Email enthusiasts and WWW sceptics can obtain it by sending one of
these emails:

A)
TO: getweb@lanic.utexas.edu
BODY: get http://dialspace.dial.pipex.com/diversity/misc/response.htm

B)
TO: getweb@usa.healthnet.org
BODY: get http://dialspace.dial.pipex.com/diversity/misc/response.htm

C)
TO: agora@dna.affrc.go.jp
BODY: send http://dialspace.dial.pipex.com/diversity/misc/response.htm

Many thanks to those who took time to reply. I haven't had time - yet -
to visit all the sites suggested, so the summary has no comments.

The wisest response came from Raquel and Erich Schaitza in Brazil ..
"I think that discussion lists are more effective than www pages.
I suggest that you motivate your students to join some lists and
see how they can find solutions to problems in each of them."

This message has been sent to: ECOLOG-L, ENTOMO-L, CONSGIS-L,
FWIM-L, ECOTEACH-L and ETHOLOGY. My apologies to people who
receive multiple copies.
