Needless to say, this project could not have been undertaken without the talents of others. Jinshuang Ma took my handwritten copy, experimented with programs, and ultimately, with the advice of David Boufford and Anthony Brach, created a database using TwinBridge Chinese Partner
® software. He improved on my work and added pertinent terms to the glossary. With that in hand, I culled botanical glossaries, including William Stearn’s Botanical Latin and various floras, to make the compilation as inclusive as possible. Ying Han Brach, whose contribution cannot be overstated, undertook the second and most massive phase. She worked tirelessly adding terms, editing, proofing, and ensuring that the text was as precise as possible. Anthony Brach provided camera-ready copy and with the help of Hong Song at the Missouri Botanical Garden made it accessible on the World Wide Web. Gustavo Romero painstakingly color-coded the Chinese characters. I am grateful for their enormous insight and practical suggestions.
